Sophie Sanders will have a solo exhibition of her artwork at Gallery
355 in Midtown, Manhattan from Thursday, September 17 until Thursday,
October 29, 2009. The exhibition, entitled "Intersubjective," shows
work that explores experiences ranging from a baby’s exhilarating
first year to a dehumanizing slave auction. In these pieces, Sanders
is inventing and creating from an internal world, lived or imagined
realities, and representing herself and others according to empathetic
critique. The exhibition will include “textured fabric reliefs,”
Sanders' mixed-media painting process, in addition to paintings on
paper and three video works.
